Body Sway Meditation

Coming to your senses – Hearing

Coming to your senses – Feeling

Coming to your senses – Sight

To get the true benefits of meditation, it’s not enough to just treat it as a 10 or 15 minute escape from the world every day. It is important to carry your practice into all the other parts of your day.

One of the most effective ways I do this is through Minute Meditations. Minute Meditations, as the name suggests are minute long meditations that you can practice at any point in your day when you’re at the bus stop, washing dishes, waiting in line, taking a break from work, stuck in traffic and so on. They are particularly beneficial if you practice them when you are feeling stressed out or overwhelmed.

The purpose of minute meditations is to bring you, instantaneously into the present moment. They make us aware of our external physical environment as well as our internal mental environment. In just one minute, you can destress, recharge and re-enter your day with a fresh perspective and renewed vitality. Each of the minute meditations I’ve created focus on one of the five senses. The benefit of doing this is that when you’re focusing on any of the senses, you are necessarily in the present moment. It’s impossible to see, taste, feel, hear or smell something from the past or the future.

You can find a few different minute meditations below. Try out a few  of them and find one that works best for you. Once you settle on a meditation, practice it as many times during the day as you can and remember to take advantage of this powerful tool when you’re anxious or frustrated but don’t have the time to take a break and destress.

Good luck!  Let us know how it goes in the comments below.
